The seat cover of the Type 23 is a multifunctional element thoughtfully designed to serve practical and aesthetic purposes. When the motorcycle is parked, the cover becomes a versatile accessory—it can be left on the bike to shield the seat material from harmful sun exposure and dust, or removed entirely for other uses as desired by the owner. This adaptability enhances the overall functionality of the bike, offering convenience while preserving its sleek appearance.

The inspiration for this innovative feature emerged during the development of the Type 23's distinctive monocoque body. During the prototyping phase, we often experimented with running long, seamless surfaces to shape the bodywork, only to later cut out and expose the seating area. This process highlighted the contrast between the refined exterior and the raw, functional interior, sparking the idea to create a seat cover that could reflect the same balance of form and utility. The result is a design that not only protects the bike but also pays homage to its creative evolution, merging the practical with the artistic in a way that is uniquely Type 23.

Erogonomics

The seat cover design introduced a new level of versatility to the Type 23, allowing us to approach the bodywork with two distinct personalities. In its covered state, the design feels enclosed and cocooned, projecting a sense of elegance and protection. Once uncovered, it transforms into an open and ready-to-ride configuration, embodying performance and freedom. This duality not only adds visual intrigue but also emphasizes the dynamic adaptability of the motorcycle.

This approach also allowed us to focus on ergonomics without compromise. By decoupling the aesthetic elements from the functional aspects of the seat pad, we were able to refine its shape to cater to a wide range of riding scenarios. Significant development went into ensuring the rear of the seat pad provides a broad, supportive section for stability and comfort during long rides, while the front tapers into a sculpted, narrow form. This design is particularly beneficial when the rider is stationary, offering a natural and comfortable position for the legs. This balance of practicality and design innovation ensures the Type 23 remains both rider-focused and visually captivating, embodying our commitment to merging form and function seamlessly.

LIGHTNESS

In addition to its distinctive and innovative design, the Type 23 incorporates lightweight materials and precision-engineered components, resulting in a motorcycle that is both visually stunning and exceptionally functional. With a wet weight of just 162kg, the bike offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio, enhancing agility and responsiveness in a way that transforms the riding experience. The use of advanced materials such as carbon fiber, aerospace-grade aluminum, and other lightweight alloys ensures durability while minimizing unnecessary weight. This focus on efficiency is further complemented by a 5% increase in brake horsepower, giving the Type 23 an extra edge in performance.
